Isn't he romantic?

Winters in our neck of the woods are BRUTAL. As I am writing this post, the temperature outside is 7 degrees Fahrenheit. 7. Seven!

That's COLD.

When I was younger, I would try to wear fashionable coats in the wintertime. It didn't really matter as much to me how warm they were, just as long as they were cute.

Such is not the case now. For the past few years, I have owned a certain coat that I affectionately call my "George Costanza coat". (Do you remember that episode of Seinfeld? Click here.) When it is "scary cold" out there, I am perfectly warm in my huge, puffy, possibly made out of Gore-Tex George Costanza coat. No, it is not cute or fashionable, but it is ever so warm, and I LOVE IT.

Imagine my despair when the toggle broke on the zipper of my favorite winter coat. (For that matter, imagine my panic when I couldn't get out of my coat that is not as comfortable to wear inside the house as outside.) Thank God my handy husband was there to rescue me. He helped me to avoid heatstroke by extracting me from the coat with a pliers.

I was so sad. Yes, I could have the zipper replaced at the local tailor. But that would take days. DAYS. And that is too long to go without my really ugly, but extremely warm coat. Unfortunately, that seemed to be my fate.

That is until my ingenious husband designed a solution to my dilemma as I napped on Sunday. My McGyver fashioned a new toggle for my zipper with only two simple materials: a paper clip and electrical tape. This morning when I went to take the dog on a walk, I discovered the kindness he had done for me, along with a sweet, little note attached.
My husband knows the way to my heart.

Which is, of course, by fixing my George Costanza coat and writing sweet love notes on its zipper.

Of course. ;)
