An Aquarium Adventure

This morning we woke up bright and early, and miracle of miracles, we were on the road by 6:30 AM! I don't know how we did it, and I don't know if that feat could ever be repeated, but we got 6 people and 1 dog on the road by what felt like the crack of dawn.

The 6 people were out for an adventure at the Shedd Aquarium in downtown Chicago. The poor dog was going in to the animal hospital to be spayed. It didn't seem quite fair.

After we dropped Moxie off, we drove 4 very excited kids to the aquarium. The first thing we saw was the huge center aquarium, complete with sea turtles, sharks, all kind of fish, and a diver who was cleaning the tank.
I love this picture...my boys profiles all in a row fascinated by what they were seeing.
They sat on a (pretend) sea turtle...
and Seth had a staring contest with an orange fish. ;)

Henry found a pretty impressive rock lobster.
Then it was time for a lunch with an amazing view of Lake Michigan.
While we were waiting for one of the shows, the kids did a little rock climbing...
Awwwww...
My sweet girl...
and my big boy...
Evan wanted to hold Henry's hand a lot... :)
We all got to touch real starfish...

Evan and Caroline got to pretend that they were penguins in a special pretend penguin habitat.

They got to play in a pretend submarine...

and Caroline spent a little time in a water cave!
We spent a lot of time watching the amazing beluga whales, sea lions and dolphins...
and to top the day off, we got to see Santa for the second time in 24 hours!
We had such a fun day, and can't wait to go back again someday!
