The Junior Photographer and The Long Drive

Here's another behavior trait that Evan has picked up from me...lately he's been known to follow us around the house with his play camera, saying "Cheese!" or "Smile!" (Turnabout's fair play, huh?!) So naturally, I had to take a picture of him taking a picture of me. That's just the way things work around here.

Every Wednesday evening Dave or I take the kids to swimming lessons to the only place close to us. Its a rather long night...we leave at 4:40, travel for a half an hour to get there, stay there for the lessons, homework and dinner until about 7:30, and then travel the half hour home. In snowy weather like tonight, the travel takes even longer. So...some nights the kids are more squirrley than others, and the radio or the DVD player doesn't always cut it. Some nights we tell childhood stories or funny stories from school. Tonight was tried a game show of sorts. I would pose questions to each of them related to what they are doing in school...ie, addition facts, skip counting or CCD prayers for Seth, multiplication and Jupiter facts for Henry, spelling and reciting phone number and address for Caroline. Such a simple idea, but the kids ate it up. We kept it up for the whole trip, we all were entertained, and Mom didn't have to listen to cranky kids. They even requested to play again next week.

Some nights those stars all just align.
