Hometown 5K

I ran in my hometown's 5K today! I was able to run with high school friends as well as teachers with whom I taught, and I was cheered on by my parents, old neighbors and friends. It was such a fun experience!
It was hot day, but the course was beautiful. We ran down Main Street, past my old elementary school, past the street I grew up on, and through the college campus.

My race went really well! My mile splits were where I wanted them to be, and I beat my personal best time by 45 seconds!
After the race, I went over to my mom and dad's house. They took me on a tour of their beautiful yard, and then my dad shared some of his birthday rhubarb pie with us as we visited on their front patio. It was so nice to be with them...just my parents and me!
It was a perfect morning!
