I did, and look what happened. The whole week passed by, and I only blogged on Tuesday. That's crazy.
I'm trying to figure out why I've been in such a slump lately. For sure, I am so grateful for all of our blessings, and we have it so much easier than so many others. And truly, many things are going well. The kids are doing great in school, and that is the most important thing. We were being pretty productive for a while, and checked a number of jobs off of our list.
However, for the past couple of weeks, I've just been dragging. I get to the end of the day, after the kids have their homework done, are showered and in bed, and all I want to do is crawl into bed myself. I read for a few minutes and that's about all I can last. I fall sound asleep. Maybe it's the pace we were keeping for a while, that I'm just needing to take a breather. Maybe it's the cold weather and less sunshine. Maybe it's just the day in/day out doldrums of the demands of a big, busy family. Maybe I'm just feeling overwhelmed and need some extra rest. Whatever it is, it makes for less blogging and less laundry done and less decluttering and so on.
So today I vowed to get back on my horse. The kids helped do some chores around the house this morning, Dave checked off some things on the "Honey, do" list, and I did major amounts of laundry. I emailed, made phone calls, etc. I helped Henry on some homework and got him started on a big project. The kids practiced their math facts and Henry practiced his trumpet. Dave took Seth to for his basketball evaluation to place him on an appropriate team. (He's thrilled that many of his friends as well as football team mates are going to play basketball too.) I took Henry, Seth and Caroline to Toys R Us to create their Christmas lists with the scan guns. (They LOVED it, and Santa now knows exactly what they would like! Thanks for the idea, Kathy!) Dave played with Evan and took Moxie on a walk. Then I dropped Caroline off at a birthday party sleepover, and we had some quality time with Our Three Sons. :)
We set up marble ramps,
we wrestled, and we read. I love these boys!
It's my goal to have the same kind of a day tomorrow...church and Sunday school, housework, homework, finishing the day up by curling up in bed with a good book and going to bed early. (I just finished reading The Kitchen House and LOVED it. Now I'm reading The Violets of March, and am completely hooked.)
I hope your weekend is productive, fun and relaxing too! :)
