It warmed my heart...

Evan was invited to go to his good friend Ryan's house this afternoon. They always have a good time together, so it was no surprise that when I went to pick him up, they did not want to part. Unfortunately, there was no way around it. I had to bring Evan's siblings to CCD, and Ryan's mom had to bring him to soccer. So they said goodbye with a hug, and then started to put their shoes on. Ryan's shoes were in the laundry room, so he went there while Evan put his shoes on by the door. As soon as Evan was ready, he shouted to his friend, "Goodbye, Ryan!"

Ryan shouted back, "Goodbye! I love you, Evan!"

Awwwww...Evan called back, "I love you too, Ryan!" :)))

Such sweet friends!

A Whirlwind Week and Weekend

I am taking a deep breath because I just spent an hour writing a post for these pictures, and everything suddenly erased. I don't know why it happened, but WOW am I frustrated!! Starting over...

On Wednesday, Henry came home from school early with a fever. The poor kid! His 7th period teacher said that she has never seen a child so green! She actually had to walk him to the office because he was so nauseous, and because he felt like he was going to pass out! They had to bring him out of the school in a wheelchair, which is (heavy sarcasm here) not embarrassing at all to a 6th grader. I feel badly that I didn't keep him home Wednesday morning, and truthfully I should have seen it coming. He said that he had a bad head ache before his cross country race on Tuesday after school, and said that he was super sore all over after the race. I should have thought that sore muscles don't come on so quickly after a race like that. On Wednesday morning he was still complaining of a headache and soreness, but since he didn't have a fever, I gave him a dose of Tylenol and sent him to school Had he still been in grade school, I might have kept him home, but we were both fearful of the schoolwork he would have to make up if he missed school. Apparently, that was a bad call.

He developed a 103 degree fever as well as a severe head ache on Wednesday. Fortunately he was able to sleep, and did that most of that evening and all of that night. (I think part of this sickness was sheer exhaustion. He has been keeping quite a schedule between getting up early for school, cross country, and loads of homework that sometimes keeps him up too late.) The next day his fever and headache got a little better. On Friday, he had no symptoms, which was good but because he had to be 24 hours fever-free before returning to school, he couldn't go.

On Friday afternoon I picked up his stack of homework, and WOW, was it overwhelming. However he did some each day this weekend, and he said that it felt so good tonight to climb into bed knowing that it was all done.

On Friday night, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law and their girls stayed over with us. The next morning, Mark and Nacibe went to the game and we watched the girls. It was a busy day! Sweet Nadia styled Caroline's hair for her soccer game...

We cheered for Caroline and Evan in their games, which they both won. Then we headed over to watch Seth's football game, and Dave announced for it. The other kids watched for a little bit, and then played in a little clearing between some trees, making it their "fort".

Seth's game was great! They won 25 to zero!! See number 4 in there? That's my big, strong football player!

Then we went home. While I was cleaning the kitchen, I was visited by two very scary monsters.

Or maybe it was Anabel and Evan. My young son ADORES his cousins!

Then Dave took the kids to the forest preserve for a hike and to fly a kite while I took Caroline on a Brownie Field Trip to some horse stables! Here's her troop!

Here's Caroline and some of her best friends getting ready to ride some horses...

...which Caroline did for the first time in her life.

She loved it so much that she did it again!

While they were waiting to groom the horses, Caroline, Audrey and Claudia performed a little horse rap. :)

This girl was in LOVE!

At the end of the field trip, the girls posed with this sweet pony...again, they all were in LOVE!
We topped the day off with a sleepover for Caroline with her friend, Claudia, and a run for Henry and I. He has races on both Monday and Tuesday!

Sheer exhaustion is hitting me now. I'm not sure if this post makes sense, and unfortunately, it is going to stay that way if it doesn't. I'm too tired to proofread. ;)

Blog Books

I can't begin to describe the joy I get when I see my kids enjoying the blog books during their reading time. I love watching them relive the memories, and feel such satisfaction that these stories from our life are treasured.

Last night Caroline spent an hour and a half reading the blog books! In this picture she is reading about when we got Moxie last year. Such a happy memory!

We're proud of you, Henry!

This boy runs amazing races on his cross country team,

makes his grandparents "pop all of their buttons",

and plays a mean trumpet,

Untitled from Sarah Nosek on Vimeo

"Star Wars" is, of course, his favorite!

and he's maintaining straight A's at school!!! We're so proud of him!

Oh yes, this boy has some talents. But did you know that he also has a knack for creating funny pictures of his brothers and sister with his DSi?

Yes, he does. Nice, huh?

Poor Caroline's looking a little green!

Ha!

Nice smile!

Not sure how he does all of this, but he's pretty good at it. :)

Love you, Mario, I mean, Henry!
Falling asleep at the computer again...got to go upstairs to catch some z's! Please say some prayers for Henry. He's got some kind of bug, and has a 103 fever! Poor thing!

Ryan's first sleepover

Tonight Henry and his friend, Alex, went to a birthday party/sleepover at their friend Josh's house. Josh lives on a farm and has horses there, so all of the boys who went to the party got to have a horse back ride. Henry LOVED it!

So, while Henry and Alex were having their sleepover. Alex's brother, Matthew invited Seth to spend the night. Then Alex and Matthew's brother, Ryan wanted in on the whole sleepover thing. So their parents asked if Caroline could sleep over. We thought that was a great idea, but then it dawned on me that since they already had one of our kids, we could have Ryan sleep at our house. Also, Evan wouldn't be all alone while his siblings were having fun at sleepovers. (However, Evan was a little bummed that Alex, Matthew and Ryan's brother and his friend, Connor, isn't old enough to sleep over yet. Your time will come, young man!) However, the best part of the whole idea was that it would be Ryan's first time to sleep over at someone's house! We were so happy to be part of opening up this fun new world to him. ;)
The kids were busy! They played smurfs (of course), flash light tag, watched a movie,
and made a cake!
I'd say it was a big sleepover success for all of the siblings!

I'm signing off tonight with one last picture...one for Ryan's scrapbook. Here you are, Ryan, sleeping with your friends, Caroline and Evan, at your very first sleepover. :)

Good night all!

The Smurfiest Smurfday Ever

Look who's 8!!!

Caroline is! She loved her new camera, books and smurfs.

She hurried to get ready for school so that she could set everything up...

and play with her obliging brother. Seth was cracking us up by being "Narrator Smurf" from the movie, describing Caroline's smurf play. His voice was so low and dramatic.

Caroline had a fun day at school where her friends and teacher gave her lots of birthday attention. She had a friend over after school for a playdate, where they played non-stop smurfs. Then we had a family night with a pizza dinner, a movie, and a chocolate cake Evan and I made today.
When I tucked her in to bed tonight, she told me that it was the "smurfiest smurfday ever"!
Happy birthday, sweet Caroline!

Sweet Dreams, Birthday Girl!

It's our sweet Caroline's birthday tomorrow! Tonight, we read her stories, and then her Daddy sent her off to bed, giving her a kiss and telling her that would be the last time he would kiss his seven year old daughter. Caroline then reminded him that he could still kiss Moxie when she's seven!

She went to bed early, so excited for tomorrow to come and wanting to make sure it came as soon as possible. Tomorrow, she gets to wake up to chocolate chip muffins and eggs (two of her favorites) and a decorated breakfast room.

Our lucky girl is getting a collection of smurfs and smurf houses (I CAN'T WAIT for her to open them!), a pink camera (She's been asking for one for ages!), and a few Ivy and Bean and Rainbow Fairies books (As of late she's been devouring those series of books!)

I can't wait to see my brand spanking new 8 year old tomorrow!
